The Group Roster - Chicago

The Eric Charles Group features Anthony Space (Keyboards) and Eric Charles (Guitar/Vocal).

Roberto Aguilera former bassist for the group, came onto the scene with his 'Bowtie Bass' (for wearing his bass very near the chin) as a young man in the 1960's, moving through Disco into the confines of Country music in the early 80s with Southern Express, touring the US and forming his own group in the late 80s, named Matizo. Aguilera returned to perform in Chicago with Johnnie Little John and Big Time Sarah – capturing the attention of Chicago Blues' best, among them Pete Special of Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows. Roberto was an extraordinary man. RIP Brother Roberto..
Heavy Style!

Eric Charles began in his teens with alumni of Luther Allison's Blues band. He played guitar in the jazz bands at University of Illinois. He fronted university parties across the Midwest with Doc Smooth during the 1980s later settling on the Chicago scene. Charles lived in Europe for half a decade performing for appreciative European and Middle Eastern audiences. He based himself out of Brussels, recording and playing with a cosmopolitan selection of Europe’s finest musicians and fronting the Eric Charles Group. Eric bases himself out of Chicago but also appears regularly in a variety of venues in Miami, Tucson and other cities.

Anthony Space is quite simply the most dangerous, funkiest, most versatile player out there. He resides and works out of Chicago with a broad range of top notch artists in and out of town. As much an inspiration to watch, Space also inspires the players around him to play their very best, a trait that earns Space the title of "a player's player". Come check him out.
